Teat for the Milk Bar for providing milk to calves.
The Milk Bar teat features a diaphragm; an opening that only opens when the calf begins sucking.
The Milk Bar teat releases milk slowly and triggers a lot of saliva. The drinking posture and powerful sucking guides the milk through the rumen and into the abomasum. The saliva travels along with it. This keeps the pH stable, which prevents acidosis. The combination of drinking slowly and a great deal of saliva production has the advantage that calves in groups will not begin to lick each other. (navels, teats, ears)
For each new group that is started, place a new set of teats on the Milk Bar, equal to the number of calves in the group. Plug the remaining openings closed.
